Post V8 Distributor Dismantling
I have a electronic dizzy with a female pump drive and a points dizzy with a male pump drive. What I would like to do is use the electronic dizzy in my P5 Rover V8 engine, how easy is it to swap the shafts over. Does it need specialist tools, does anyone have a workshop manual for these dizzies?

are the drive ends not a seperate part from the shaft?
Im sure I remember a roll pin and a seperate end but I might be thinking of something else?

The 'cog' does come off, held in by a pin. On the 'female' oil pump drive version the pump drive is a separate part, on the end of the cog( held on by another pin). On the 'male' version the end of the shaft is flat (like a screwdriver) and is recessed into the 'cog'. What do early Range Rover drivers do if they want electronic ignition? Looks as if I'm going to have to go with points until I find an answer.

You can fit luminition to rid the points. Have a search for it on google

Had Luminition fitted to a 101 a few years ago, seemed to work well. Didn't know they still made them.
