Post SOMEONE STOLE MY FIRST DEFENDER !!!
I've been saving for almost 10 years for my first landy. Went to buy a red, van backed defender 90 (county) from an advert on auto trader yesterday. what a brilliant buy! A 300tdi with 56,000 genuine miles, excellent red body work for its 1994 age, snorkel, full chequreplate kit, bigger intercooler, land rover boot liner, upgraded TD5 dashboard, land rover stereo, land rover A-Bar with spots, i could go on for ages.
Anyway, I brought it at about 1pm yesterday and within 7hrs it was gone from outside our house just outside Halesowen!
I've said to anyone who can give me information that results in the sucessful return of the vehicle there is a £100 reward!

Registration is 544 ARV

My first question would be did you give the seller your address? Was it a dealer or trader? Might be worth a drive past where you bought it from.

Best of luck hope you find it. You must be gutted. I know I would be.

I went for a drive past the chaps house who i brought it from. no sign of it Crying or Very sad

Gonna keep an eye out on e-bay for parts from it as it had so many extras.

I gave the bloke my address so the Log-book could be swapped over.

No-one knows we live in the house at the address i gave him, because our house was completely flooded in september and we are now in this house provided by our insurance in a long private road which is a dead end. I was only given one set of keys with the landy and it went missing the same night i brought it.

And it gets worse, i'd left all the paperwork for the sale of the vehicle, log book, and manual in it. i gave him my car part exchange and left all the paperwork for my old car in the car including the full logbook.

No wonder he was so willing to throw in 12 months warranty (parts and labour for free!)

I take it you bought it from a dealer, did they specialise in Land Rover or 4x4`s or just any cars and was there any signs of forced entry, broken glass etc. I don’t suppose you noticed any cars following you home.
If you don’t get it back I hope the insurance goes through ok. I am just south of Halesowen and I will keep an eye out.

Been thinking about this.

As the thief (seller?) has got the logbook for your new motor, and potentially has stolen it back from you, then the seller could potentially throw it away and ask the dvla for a replacement logbook. If the your updated logbook has not been sent off, you yourself won’t have any proof you were the owner of the car, if only for a matter of hours. Hence if found, you may have an issue with trying to prove your were the owner, when it was stolen.

I am sure it wouldn't be the first nicked car to be sold and them pinched back before the new owner found out it was already stolen.
