Post weekend camping: best base for greenlaning
i'm planning a weekend away with the family, and want to combine the usual outdoorsy stuff with a bit of laning.

where's best?

lakes (go there regularly)
dales (malham?)
n. wales (bala area?)

looking for longer lanes, nice views, got a 90 with good mud tyres.

If you go to wales laning you cant help but fall in love with the place

but then I am sure the lakes etc can all offer something

There are a lot of lanes on the other side of the Tyne to the LRO featured ones, plus down from the Cafe on Hartside there are lots in the Eden valley. Details are on the Cumbria CC web site. All the lanes in Northumberland are also on the Northumberland CC web site.

If you do the Elrington lane please keep totally to the track as you will go through a Countryside Stewardship scheme and landowner has already had problems with off route pillocks. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Wales and the Lakes are both excellent. Though I must say the only experience I had of Wales was Bala so I wouldn't claim in depth knowledge.

In the Lakes the South Lakes area particularly is rich in tracks with minimal travel between them. Tracks range for Freelander friendly through to "Oh my God I'll never get up there!" (don't they Chappers Very Happy).

If you intend going to the Lakes let me know and I can put together a set of lanes for you that are suitable to your requirements if that would help. Some lanes have specific requirements on them (Grizedale 'The Fox', High Tilberthwaite and Rusland Pool for example) so please ensure you are familiar with those requirements up front.

OG.

They certainly do, however, as it was proved on the day, God did indeed get up them! Wink Some even without a tow-rope
