P38 DSE GEARBOX PROB

HI all im a newbie on this but have had several rangies over the years, I have a 96 dse autobiography at the moment but have a gearbox issue,
1. gearbox had worked fine but car was laid up for months and the transfer box replaced, when got back the shift pattern was altered ie high revs needed to change gears and it didnt seem to want to go into top at all.
2.sump dropped and oil and filter changed on auto box. still the same behavior.
3. gearbox not slipping or loosing drive when car is driving.
Is this an actual gearbox problem or a sensor , control or wiring problem . appreciate any info Im in S.Ireland , any EXPERTS here say replace the box?.

ok you have tried the oil change take for a run return and drain and refill again as this will flush the torque converter then refill and retry if it is the same suspect a fault in the box or the torque converter
