LRO editor Neil has been around Land Rovers all his motoring life – his first car was a Land Rover Series IIA, which he still owns today. He learned the ropes of driving off-road by competing in road taxed vehicle trials and marshalling at events around the country.
He also got involved in greenlaning early in his motoring life and has become one of the most prolific greenlaners in the country, having driven them from the tip of Cornwall to the top of Northumberland.
He started writing about his exploits with his Land Rovers in club magazines before editing one – and he joined the Land Rover Owner International team as a staff writer in 2004. Since then he has driven Land Rovers in most European countries, as well as Morocco and North America.
He has driven almost every model of Land Rover, is still actively involved in off-road motorsport and when he's not competing or helping run events, you'll often find him photographing them – his other hobby.
As well as his 1969 Series IIA, he owns a 1998 300Tdi Defender 110 County Station Wagon, 1979 Series III Lightweight and a 2007 Freelander 2 Td4 HSE. He also drives the editorial chariot, a 2012 Defender 110 utility wagon, M1 LRO and any other Land Rover he gets thrown the keys to.
