Theo’s first car was a rusty Series III, and these days he’s usually found tinkering with the 1968 Series IIA that he’s owned for over a decade. He joined LRO as our staff writer back in 2013, and we despatched him all round the country writing about pretty much everything Land Rover related.
He went freelance a few years later and is now our news editor.
Based in the Outer Hebrides, daily life includes trailer towing and dog ferrying, often on rough tracks – chores which are shared by a Td5 Discovery 2 and 4.6 Range Rover P38. Living so close to the sea means his summer evenings are often spent with an oily paintbrush, rustproofing Land Rovers the old way.
Theo has come to know his Series IIA inside out, and drove it to the Alps a few years ago. Converting it into an overlander while retaining its 1960s drivetrain has been a long-term dream, but good sense keeps getting the better of him.
If money were no object he’d have a Range Rover Classic in Trocadero Red with flannel interior. And his Series, of course.
