In a normal year, I'll already have been camping at least once – but that hasn’t happened this year, for obvious reasons. I’ve got to say that I’m as eager as anyone to spend a night under canvas – or at least tent fabric – as soon as possible. In fact, I’m going to pitch my tent in my back garden this weekend and make it a reality – why don't you too?
Obviously, I mean camp in your own garden, or in your Land Rover camper or caravan on your own drive, not in my garden – there's barely room for my tent in that. Or you could simply make it a mini adventure by digging out your sleeping bags and pitching camp in your living room. That's especially good if you've got kids – it'll give them something to look forward to and it won't be too cold.

Camping at home may not be quite the same as heading off to the wild, but at least you know the facilities work, you won’t struggle to find a pitch and you won’t have to worry about having left an integral part of your camping gear at home…
You can even go one step further and do the full catering thing; eating the sort of meals you would do when camping – and if you're getting the children involved, enjoy toasted marshmallows and other treats.
If you are daft enough to brave the cold when you’ve a perfectly serviceable warm house next to you, make sure you send us a pic of your setup – to neil@LRO.com – we’ll upload them and we may use them in the mag.
We may be limited on what we can do, but there’s no restriction on having fun – so what are you waiting for?
