This LRO reader emailed LRO.firstname.lastname@example.org looking for help when removing free wheeling hubs from his 109" Series III
My Series III 109in has Fairey freewheeling hubs. I need to repair the swivel but I can’t get the hubs off. I’ve unbolted them but they simply won’t budge.

There’s a plastic snake hiding in your freewheel hub, which you need to coax out to split the hub. If you remove the screw in the side of the hub, you’ll see a plastic washer underneath. Hook this out gently and pull out the snake that’s attached to it (it’s a bit like a cable tie).
You’ll need to jiggle the hub to get it out. Once out, the outer will come off, giving access to the circlip on the halfshaft end. Replacement plastic inserts (part no RTC7316) are available from various stockists, including Rimmer Bros.
