This LRO reader emailed LRO.firstname.lastname@example.org looking for advice on undertaking an engine swap for his 1986 Land Rover Ninety.
My 1986 Ninety has the normally aspirated 2.5 diesel engine. It’s feeling its age now, so can I fit a 200Tdi engine? I’d also like to fit power steering.
Chris Kirkby, Stevenage, Herts
A 200Tdi is actually a very good engine conversion for your Ninety. You’ll really notice the extra power and improved mpg - and you’ll even be able to fit the power steering at the same time, because the engine will almost certainly have the PAS pump already on it. You may also like to consider the more recent 300Tdi engine - 200s are becoming scarce now.
