This LRO reader emailed LRO.email@example.com to ask Andrew Varall about Discovery 2 intercoolers.
I’ve just bought a 2004 Discovery 2. Would you recommend fitting a larger intercooler? Some say it gives better performance, others say not. I’ve owned Land Rovers for many years, but this is my first Disco and I love it!

Fitting a bigger intercooler by itself won’t make a huge difference to a Td5 Discovery. As yours is a 2004 model, it’ll have a flash-programmable engine ECU, which means that you can have the ECU rewritten with a higher performance programme and this would make an incredible difference to performance. Expect to pay about £480 for this upgrade – then you can enjoy the power and torque that the car really should have had when it came off the Land Rover production line.
