This LRO reader emailed LRO.firstname.lastname@example.org to ask Harry Holtom about selecting the correct tyres for his Land Rover Discovery 2.
I need to get a new set of tyres for my Discovery 2. I’ve been running Goodyear Wrangler HPs, but they no longer seem to be available in size 255/55 R18. I do sometimes go off-road, but almost all my mileage is on-road. Our local roads are quite hilly, so it can be treacherous in bad winters.
I’ve been looking at the Vredestein Quatrac 3 SUV and Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season. Any thoughts on either of these?

Given how you use your vehicle, I would suggest that neither of the tyres you mention are what you need – they’re a bit too winter-biased for my liking – even though they’re classed as all-season, year-round-usage tyres.
Instead, I would be looking at the Michelin Latitude Cross, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric, Goodyear Efficient Grip and Pirelli Scorpion Verde. Any of these will do a good job for you.
