This LRO reader emailed LRO.firstname.lastname@example.org to ask for advice about sticky Defender 110 doors refusing to shut properly.
The central locking on my 2003 Defender 110 station wagon works perfectly but if it’s left locked for a long time (overnight, say), the doors won’t shut properly again for five minutes when it’s first unlocked. The rest of the time the doors shut cleanly. Do you think it might be a servo sticking somewhere?

This sounds like a mechanical problem stopping the door shutting. See if you can tell which bit is causing the resistance to closure. If it’s the catch, which you imply it is, I would whip the door card of and disconnect the lock actuator and/or lubricate the mechanism. It sounds as if the actuator is slow to move to the unlock position.
