This LRO reader emailed LRO.firstname.lastname@example.org to ask LRO about off-road tyres for their Land Rover Freelander 1.
Will it be easier to put 16-inch wheels and tyres on my year-2000 Freelander than to stay with 17-inchers for of road use?
Gerry Elliott, Rushden, Northamptonshire
Yes it will be – and I would suggest that you go for the late-model rims, as the earlier rims will not clear the brakes. The best size of tyres to fit would be 215/65 R16 – this size is a factory fi tment, so it won’t lead to any unwanted alterations to the gearing or make your speedo read incorrectly. I would go for the General Grabber AT.
