Uttoxeter’s new First Responder has received a donation of a Freelander 2 with an impressive maintenance record. The vehicle, plus its interior conversion and all future fuel and maintenance bills, are being donated by local businesses.
The vehicle has been provided by Angus MacKinnon, a dealership on the outskirts of Uttoxeter in Staffordshire.
‘We chose a Freelander 2 because we are Land Rover sales, service and repair specialists so we know them inside out, and we have been looking after them for most of our 45+ years in business,’ says Julian Stockton, Sales Director for Angus MacKinnon.
Unveiled during a handover ceremony at the end of February, the black 2012 Td4 Freelander wears striking livery provided by HEX Signs and Graphics. The interior conversion, which included storage drawers for medical equipment, was supplied by Motorkraft Vehicle Accessory Specialists.

‘This particular Freelander has been maintained by us for 10 years so we know it very well indeed,’ says Julian. The DVLA’s online record shows that the vehicle has never failed an MOT, and its last advisory was in 2014.
All-terrain, year-round service is part of the vehicle's remit, Julian explained, hence the requirement for a Land Rover. 'The vehicle will be used in and around Uttoxeter, Staffordshire and the surrounding villages, along with all rural areas around the Dove Valley. It will be needed off-road in many emergencies, so like other off-road emergency services they choose Land Rover products to combat on-road and off-road situations.'
