The event dates back to the ARC National Rally in May 1969, where it was hosted at Eastnor Castle, the late Major Ben Hervey-Bathurst, (land owner of Eastnor Castle) decided the trial was ‘too easy and not challenging enough’ due to the time of year and the ground being dry so decided to challenge drivers from all ARC clubs to come and join him later in the year and see how they would get on.
He was joined by many drivers from all the ARC (now ALRC) clubs. Since then, MROC have continued to host the event in his honour, it is one of the oldest, largest and successful events of the year open to members of any ALRC club.
The Major’s is a team CCV trial, each team being made up of three drivers, £135 per team. Closing date for application is 31st August.
