The Macmillan 4x4 UK Challenge is a long-distance, annual, four-wheel drive navigational endurance event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support that has taken place every March since 2002. Starting in the West Midlands this year, it will be covering up to 1000 miles on and off road in less than three days.The Macmillan 4x4 UK Challenge 2009 closed with a very impressive £106,115.30 raised for Macmillan Cancer support. The Macmillan 4x4 UK Challenge 2010 sets off on Friday 5th March with the biggest field to date. Approximately 90 teams are entered in the annual event.
Athlete, model and TV presenter Charlie Webster has jumped in at the last minute as a celebrity co-driver for this year. Athlete, Model and TV Presenter, Charlie Webster will drive a 1995 300Tdi Defender in the Macmillan 4x4 UK challenge over the weekend of 5th - 7th March 2010 in one of the Beds, Herts and Cambs Land Rover Club's (BHCLRC) teams. Charlie’s participation will help raise awareness of the event and subsequently boosted sponsorship opportunities, all of which goes directly to Macmillan. The Mac 4x4 currently raises approximately £100,000 per year for Macmillan Cancer Support, with a grand total of over half a million pounds to date. Previous celebrity supporters of the ‘Mac 4x4’ include Julia Bradbury, Lynn Bowles, Sunita Shroff and Charlie Dimmock.
