The Old Leafsprung Land Rovers forum, hosted the annual 'Leafers at t'Pit' event in West Yorkshire. For the past few years, the ‘Leafers at t’Pit’ event at the National Coalmining Museum, Caphouse Colliery, Wakefield has taken place, with 2011 being no exception. The event is an opportunity for Land-Rovers of a ‘leaf-sprung only’ variety to congregate and demonstrate that utility vehicles more than 60 years old are still on the roads where they belong.
From some of the oldest Series One models, right up to Stage-One V8 examples, plus Series 2, 2A, Series 3 - including no less than six Carawagon campers - and military models like the Lightweight and 101 FC on show, a swathe of the history of Lode Lane production stood shoulder to shoulder.
As in previous years, prizes were awarded for the finest examples of the various models on display, as well as other categories.
