Bristol and West Land Rover Show is joining with forces charity BLESMA – the Limbless Veterans' charity - in a fundraising attempt at its inaugural event on 23/24 June at the Royal Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet. BLESMA – The Limbless Veterans' charity helps all wounded servicemen and women who have lost limbs, the use of limbs or eyes, to rebuild their lives by providing rehabilitation activities and welfare support. Its programmes and support networks allow men, women and their families to face the challenges ahead with renewed confidence and self-belief. The organisers are aiming to get 1000 Land Rovers and ex-military vehicles together in formation to create a mosaic in the shape of a Defender 90. Once the mosaic is in place, an aerial view photograph will be taken and guest speakers will announce the total amount of vehicles entered. The challenge is to take place at 3pm on Saturday June 23, followed by an evening of entertainment to celebrate the success of the attempt.
There will be entertainment, food, a licensed bar and a charity auction. The latter already has more than 50 lots already promised. As the challenge is in aid of charity, each participant is being asked for a suggested donation of £10 per vehicle to take part. In return for this every participant will receive a goody bag and certificate.
