The Old Leafsprung Land Rovers forum, hosted the annual 'Leafers at t'Pit' event in West Yorkshire. For the past few years, the ‘Leafers at t’Pit’ event at the National Coalmining Museum, Caphouse Colliery, Wakefield has taken place, with this Jubilee Year being no exception. The event is an opportunity for Land-Rovers of the leaf-sprung variety to congregate and demonstrate that utility vehicles of more than 60 years old are still in use and on the roads.
This weekend a swathe of the history of Lode Lane production stood shoulder to shoulder; from some of the oldest Series One models, right up to 101 V8 examples, through Series 2, 2A, Series 3 and military models were all to be seen. The Land Rover Classic Campers forum group www.lrcc.org.uk click here for LRCC was celebrating getting seven genuine Carawagon campers together on Sunday and a neat trio of Land Rovers was the display of ex-RAF, RN and Army vehicles. As in previous years, prizes were awarded for the finest examples of the various models on display, as well as other categories.
