When Team Sheepie’s budget Freelander 1 rally car was featured in the November issue of LRO, Ian and Demelza revealed that they hoped to enter this year’s Rally GB, in Wales, the event that inspired Ian to create the winning vehicle in the first place.
With the hotly contested Freelander Challenge now won, the loyal team is now preparing for the biggest challenge of their rallying careers, competing on the world stage in Rally GB.
‘What a season Team Sheepie has had!’ says Ian. ‘There are lots of people to thank for this success. First up is my navigator Demelza Scholes for stepping into the unknown and for keeping me sane. Then there’s the crew, without whom we couldn’t keep running at the events; top spanner man Ben Brough, Brian Taylor for keeping our windows nice and clean, Tim Reynolds again for helping keep the car going with Ben, and Louisa Felice for the support from the very start.’
‘No rally team can compete without generous sponsors and Team Sheepie is no different. George Polley and Yokohama supplied us with cracking tyres that never let us down, Carrie and Andy Braid (Brewery Tap), Kate and Stu Badcock (Hydex) and Northcliffe Garage provided help and support, too’
