This was the fourth year of the Adventure Overland Show, which gathers globetrotters of many persuasions at Stratford Racecourse. It’s an informal jamboree of bikes, trikes, vans, MANs, utes, jalopies and show-trucks, but 4x4s rule the day, and you can’t turn a corner without finding a well-travelled Land Rover.
‘It’s a show for anyone who, like myself, has got the travel bug,’ says event organiser Tom McGuigan. ‘You don’t have to go all around the world to be part of the overland scene. It’s about what you can afford, and what you aspire to.’
An intriguing line-up of ‘been-there-done-that’ speakers included none other than LRO’s pet nomad and desert addict Sam Watson. Our Portugal Editor Jose Almeida could also be found, distributing helpings of stonkingly good port from the back of his Discovery 1.
Here’s just a handful of the many Land Rovers that caught our eye.
