An epic European road trip, the Two Balls Banger Rally has been as popular as ever, with a record number of teams entering for 2015.
Traversing more than 2000 miles across 10 European countries, the team undertook the mammoth journey in a ‘monster truck’ taxi based upon a Land Rover Discovery chassis.
Nicknamed ‘Maggie’, the taxi helped the team successfully negotiate a challenging route through Northern France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Monte Carlo and Southern France – where the intrepid adventurers were crowned 2015 rally winners in Nice.
Having already won the Two Ball Rally in 2014, the team – comprising of TerraClean mechanics John Bowen, Bob Bathgate, Gary Wod and TerraClean sales director Phillip Dowd – was well prepared to tackle the varied and testing challenges. These ranged from gate-crashing a wedding to entertaining a local group of people, along with getting law enforcement officers into the taxi.
Phillip Dowd, TerraClean Sales Director, said: 'I would like to thank first and foremost the people and companies that have supported us and donated so kindly to Macmillan Cancer Support. They have been instrumental as we spent numerous hours rebuilding the taxi and taking it across Europe to compete and win the Two Ball Rally, raising much needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support in the process.'
A post event party took place on Sunday, 30th August raising more than £1000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
A justgiving.com page has been set up and people can also donate by texting: Taxi52 £3 to 70070.
