A group of walkers was enjoying a weekend ramble through the Queen’s estate at Balmoral when Her Majesty, a noted fan of Land Rover vehicles drove up to say 'hello'. Mary Roberts said her 'jaw hit the deck' when she realised who the visitor was and that, 'The Queen was very charming and chatty. She stood and chatted with us while the corgis ran around then got a picnic basket out of her car.'
The group had been out walking through the hills when a Range Rover drove past. Some of the ladies joked about being checked out by royal security but thought nothing more of it until they stopped at a bothy to have their lunch as it was raining heavily. The group members were stunned when the Range Rover pulled up and out stepped the Queen. She, with two corgis, came over to say hello. She advised them to watch out for the weather, saying 'the wind would be in their faces on the way back down the hill.'
