On September 24, Keith Bowen and Tim Price-Bowen visited the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court where they handed over a cheque for £121,407.09 to Major Tristan Crew, Commanding Officer Headley Court. The cheque was the fruition of the funds raised by the Help for Heroes 4x4 Rally 2010 in aid of the Help for Heroes charity.
The event saw 43 vehicles, crewed by serving and ex-military personnel, as well as civilians and families take part in the 10-day touring assembly which included a military history tour, some fun activities and off-road driving, and was open to road-legal 4x4 vehicles. The route followed the path and told the story of the Allied invasion of Europe after the landing in France on D-Day. The Help for Heroes 4x4 European Rally 2010 retraced much of that route.
After using byways on Salisbury Plain the rally travelled to Portsmouth to embark on the ferry to France. In addition to Normandy, the H4H 4x4 Rally route visited Arnhem in Holland. It then headed south to Bastogne in Belgium site of the famous ‘Battle of the Bulge’. After visiting the Alsace region of France the event journeyed into Germany and Dachau with its horrors. The event concluded after visiting Hitler's Eagle's Nest at Berchtesgaden in Bavaria.
