In June 2010, forty-three teams participated in the inaugural Help for Heroes 4x4 European Rally. Driving over 3000 miles in 4x4 vehicles, visiting six countries in 10 days via French, Belgian, Dutch and German sites of military history, the group raised £121,000 for the good cause in the process. Participants included serving and ex-service personnel, civilians, a couple on honeymoon and three families with their children in tow! As a result, many of the participants came away from the event as confirmed friends. This November, twenty-five of the participants reunited for a weekend of green laning and socialising at Llanerchindda Farm near Llandovery. Owner Martin Hadley said, 'Llanerchindda Farm was the perfect base for the Help for Heroes 4x4 Rally group to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mid-Wales. With our nine en-suite bedrooms and two self catering cottages we can easily accommodate and cater for individuals or groups of up to 35 people.'
Group organiser Jonathan Buckley commented, 'With the farmhouse style breakfasts and dinners, licensed bar and undercover workshop facilities Llanerchindda Farm is the ideal base for us. The Hadley family always welcomes us with open arms, which makes Llanerchindda Farm the first choice destination for our reunion.'
There are still some places left on the 2011 Help for Heroes 4x4 European Rally which will start on Saturday 18th June. Details of the rally can be found at www.h4hrally.co.uk. click here for Help for Heroes rally
Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry as recently as October 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded Servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. Since then they have so far raised over £50 million out of their very small and unassuming offices on an industrial estate in Tidworth, Wiltshire.
