England football captain, and Chelsea player, Frank Lampard was caught by a police camera while driving 90mph in a 50mph speed zone, a court heard. The Chelsea midfielder, who lives in Kensington, was alleged to have driven at speeds of more than 90 mph in a Range Rover on the Esher bypass in Claygate, last March. Lampard and his legal representatives did not appear at the hearing at Staines Magistrates’ Court. A trial date has been set for Thursday, March 3.
Arsenal player, Alex Song has had his car impounded after he was caught speeding by the police. The midfielder was pulled over in Radlett, Hertfordshire, but drove away from police after allegedly refusing to give his details. Song was said to be doing 50mph in a 40mph and 30mph zones in his Range Rover. He was travelling with his wife and another woman. 'The driver was unable to verify relevant documentation requested by police,' a spokeswoman said. 'Following checks the vehicle was seized on suspicion of the driver not being insured to drive the vehicle. The driver had a specified period in which to produce the relevant documentation after which police will consider whether any further action should be taken.' The car was impounded in Watford.
Newcastle United captain, Kevin Nolan has been banned for speeding yesterday. He hit 65mph in a Range Rover on a 30mph road near the club’s training ground in the city. Midfielder Nolan denied speeding but a district judge found the case proved at an earlier court hearing. Nolan was banned for 60 days at North Tyneside magistrates court and was ordered to pay £3,746.
Celtic FC coach Alan Thompson faces a road ban after admitting drink driving. He was one-and-half times over the limit at the wheel of his Range Rover when stopped in Kirkintilloch Road, Bishopbriggs near Glasgow, last October. Lawyer James Reilly entered his guilty plea at Glasgow’s Justice of the Peace Court. Thompson was not present at the hearing.
