Ben Davenport, in a solo expedition leaving on April 21st, is driving his Land Rover Defender 110 from (Cape) Cornwall to Cape Horn (Argentina). The expedition will be one of the longest solo vehicle-dependent expeditions that has taken place and will cross 39 countries including some of the most remote and chalenging conditions. Ben is doing it on behalf of two charities, British Heart Foundation and Newlife Foundation (ex-Birth Defects Foundation). These two bodies are relevant to Ben's cause as, having been born with the rare condition Noonan's Syndrome which has several and varied manifestations including congenital heart disease, he is keen to support the charity's research efforts.
Ben Davenport's previous attempt almost ended in tragedy when his Land Rover was smashed into by a lorry in the Ukraine. But, after limping the shattered vehicle home, he’s rebuilt it and is now about to set off again, watch his progress on the expedition website at www.cornwall2capehorn.com or click here for Cornwall to Cape Horn
