Prime Minster Rt. Hon. David Cameron has visited Jaguar Land Rover’s global headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire, where he met a number of apprentices and graduates who have recently joined the company. During the visit Mr Cameron announced a £25 million fund that will support the creation of additional apprenticeship places to help businesses offer enhanced opportunities to inspire the next generation of talented engineers.
The Jaguar Land Rover business is at the leading edge of the advanced research and development of exciting new products and technologies. As the company’s new vehicles become more sophisticated and luxurious, and as the business strives to reach ever higher quality standards, Jaguar Land Rover is committed to investing in a highly trained workforce. In addition to meeting employees, David Cameron was able to view Jaguar and Land Rover product and have a short drive in the Range_e, an advanced plug-in hybrid vehicle capable of delivering less than 89g/km and 85mpg.

More than 100 apprentices have joined Jaguar Land Rover’s apprentice scheme this year, starting their career in the fields of manufacturing, engineering and technology with an initial 36 to 42 month training programme. This is in addition to this year’s graduate intake of more than 330, who have recently started their careers at JLR. Mr Cameron’s visit also comes as Jaguar Land Rover is in the process of recruiting 1300 new employees, including 1000 engineers, as part of the company’s ambitious growth strategy, which will see 40 significant 'product actions' introduced in the next five years. The so-called 'product actions' include all-new vehicles and powertrain upgrades.
