Michael Johnson-Cutts stole a Land Rover Defender from Belper, and was driving it along Main Road, Stretton, Derbyshire, on December 22 2011 when officers attempted to pull him over. He drove off before stopping in a car park at Mill Street, Clowne, about 20 minutes later. During the pursuit, he reached 75mph through residential areas and mounted a grass verge, Derby Crown Court heard.
Johnson-Cutts of Mount Pleasant Road, Masbrough near Rotherham was sentenced to 20 months for aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and using a vehicle without insurance. He was disqualified from driving for two years and also asked Recorder Simon Ward to take two cases of handling stolen vehicles into account when passing sentence.
