Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for information following the thefts of three Land Rovers. A green Land Rover TD5 was stolen from a farm in Barkstone Lane, Bottesford, overnight on Thursday, December 22. On the same night, a black Land Rover Defender was stolen from Bridge Field, Kegworth. It was later found in Cotgrave, Nottinghamshire.
Overnight on Tuesday, a khaki-coloured Land Rover Defender was taken from a farm in Rempstone Road, Belton, near Loughborough.
Police believe the incidents may be linked. Detective Constable Darren Lewis said, 'We are working hard to try to ascertain who is taking these vehicles. We would like to hear from anyone who has seen any suspicious activity.'
Anyone with information should call Detective Constable Lewis on the non-emergency number 101. He added, 'We are working hard to try and ascertain who is taking these vehicles and we would like the public's help. We would like to hear from anyone who has seen any suspicious activity in the areas where the incidents have taken place, or anyone who knows someone who has recently acquired a Land Rover. We would also like to hear from anyone who knows how the vehicles are being taken. In all of the above incidents the keys to the vehicles have not been stolen and there has been a clean entry to the vehicle.'
He explained, 'It may be that you have heard rumours, or whispers at the local pub. You may have thought nothing of it previously but it could help with our enquiries. We would also like to remind people to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious activity, incidents, or vehicles to the police. I would also urge all Land Rover owners to, where possible, keep their vehicle in a secure garage.'
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Lewis on 101 and follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer. When prompted key in their identification number 2886. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is anonymous on 0800 555 111.
