The UK's longest running annual 4x4 event, the ALRC National Rally is being held at Belvoir Castle in 2012. What's now the Association of Land Rover Clubs (ALRC) started holding a national competitive event for Land Rover enthusiasts in 1955. The 2012 event at Belvor Castle near Grantham will be the first at this venue and the 56th ALRC National Rally. The organisers are expecting this central location to attract visitors and competitors from all 39 UK clubs plus overseas organisations. The event will feature a high standard of competition with typically 120 entries per event per day. Most of the events at the ALRC National Rally 2012 are filling up well, both the RTV and CCV trials are now over half full. Entries are updated every 15 minutes on the event website. The Concours d'Elegance has, in some previous years, been somewhat overlooked but this year's organising team are hoping to raise its profile. There are some fantastic annual trophies to be won many with a long history and some famous, in Land Rover circles, winners including Ken Wheelwright. Vehicles don't have to be to Ken's standard to be of interest to the judges and spectators. Below is a list of the Concours d'Elegance trophies, silver salvers and categories. What's more its only a fiver to enter, whats not to like?

As well as the concours, there will be plenty of off-road action, there is the 20 acre arena and trade stand field where, as well as the bar, food hall, parts, tools and plenty of autojumble there will be demonstration events. This weekend is jointly hosted by two of the oldest clubs in the ALRC; Peak and Dukeries Land Rover Club www.panddlrc.co.uk click here for P&D LRC and Lincolnshire Land Rover Club llrc.co.uk/ click here for LLRC . Both clubs have over 20 years experience and have hosted the national event several times.
The two organising clubs are really trying hard to open the event up to a wider, family audience and it should be a cracker. The Belvoir Castle site is excellent, with superb camping and plenty of demanding terrain for the competitive events. The clubs will have an area close to the campsite where trials sections will be ideal for spectating for people who don't want to walk too far in the woods. They're also doing a drive-around course for your own vehicles and lots of family-friendly stuff, including a 'street party' on the 5th. There is a charity auction scheduled Saturday night in the interval of the performance of the live band 'Snatch' (who perform all the old favourites as you've never heard them before) in aid of race2recovery. The star prize so far is a Moroccan trip donated by Trailmasters.
The organisers are pleased to announce that the Royal Logistics Corps TA will be attending the event. They will be erecting a military village and bringing along some vehicles to display along with inflatable assault course and climbing wall. They hope to enter the RTV as a training exercise in some' green fleet' Land Rovers although this has yet to be confirmed.
Day visitors will be most welcome at the event and the admission cost for day visitors is set at a very reasonable £5 per car irrespective of the amount of occupants.
