In the vicinity of the Halewood plant, south of Liverpool, it is said that the budget failed to raise spirits and that 9000 have already applied for the 1000 jobs. It's an area of Liverpool still trying to recover from the closure of numerous factories in the late eighties. The fact that JLR's Halewood plant is booming whereas the relatively local Vauxhall plant at Ellesmere Port is under threat is noteworthy and, according the the article, a reflection on the cost of each factory's products.?
