From the start, Peter and Eileen Crichton's journey had planned to span the maximum latitude on the planet. Starting from Nordkapp, Norway at 71° North the pair made their way south and finally reached 55° South, the Beagle Channel, at the most southerly parts of South America.
For Peter and Eileen, the journey had always been much more important than the arrival. Even when collecting their Discovery 1, named Rabia, from Tilbury Docks they decided to break up the journey with a stop at LRO for lunch.
21,000 miles had to be celebrated and over a glass of champagne Peter and Eileen regaled us with stories from their epic adventures.
Congratulations to Peter and Eileen from all at LRO. To read more about their travels, check out the couples overlanding series in LRO. The South American stage of the series can be found in LRO starting from February 2012 issue (Back issues: 0845 601 1356, firstname.lastname@example.org), with the fifth part, documenting Buenos Aires to 55° South, appearing in the Spring issue, on sale now.
