It’s not just Jaguar Land Rover that are thriving at the moment. The Midlands-based company’s success is having a knock-on effect in the local economy too, with the car parts industry noticing a significant boom, only set to rise when construction of the new engine plant on Wolverhampton’s i54 business park is completed.
The sophisticated plant will engineer and manufacture a new range of advanced engines for JLR, including high-tech, low-emission, four-cylinder engines with 750 new jobs being created directly within the plant. It is claimed that the development of the site will have seen £355 million in investment from JLR as part of their £1.5 billion investment over five years in new product developments.
With sales of Land Rover products booming globally, mainly thanks to strong demand in India and China, UK businesses are set to see their prospects improve when the new plant opens its doors. Nearly 1,500 companies in the region, more than half of JLR’s suppliers, will benefit from JLR’s expansion from three to four manufacturing plants in the Midlands.
