Twisted, based in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, rebuilds Defenders from new from the ground up, or enhances customers’ own vehicles, creating discreet double-take cars, the 'Edition' range, varying in specification from stripped-out to everything-in, with original bare rivets sitting comfortably alongside customer-specified luxury installations. 'UK sales are strong, exports are strong, we take our time to deliver a fantastic product - but our customers accept and appreciate our attention to detail, and many already own several high-end cars with long waiting lists so know when something is worth waiting for,' said Charles Fawcett, managing director of Twisted Performance.
The ‘double-takes’ are not because Twisted Defenders are blingy, it’s because they’re completely the opposite. Most Twisted Defenders are discreet on the outside with, perhaps, a few exterior-fitting upgrades and privacy glass hinting at the quality standards on the inside and people generally look twice to check that they saw what they think they saw.
'We don’t simply bolt on parts, we deliver a seamless and integrated series of enhancements which transforms the relationship between a Defender passenger or driver and the road; engine and transmission upgrades, suspension re-tuning, bigger and better brakes, and interiors and soundproofing that deliver improbable levels of luxury and refinement,' added Fawcett
Most Twisted Defenders are enhanced and specified to a level which can take them to double the dealer list price. There are three Edition ranges – the Alpine, French and Retro, each in 90 and 110 wheelbases. Each can be specified with engine upgrades to more than 200bhp and 337lb/ft of torque. Other enhancements include automatic transmission, brake upgrades and modified suspension, unique interior leathering, and exclusive Twisted parts.
