The Abersoch Express, the 1973 Series III 88in Searle camper that was the subject of an LRO workshop series is being used on an unofficial 'six nations' tour around Britain and Ireland. In the course of a fortnight it will visit Northern Ireland, Scotland, Isle of Man, Ireland, Wales and England.
On leg two, via the Belfast to Cairnryan ferry More information at www.stenaline.co.uk/ferry click here for Stenaline the Series III stopped overnight in Dumfries.
An electrical problem meant that the largely untested vehicle needed the ministrations of the RAC. By the swollen river in Dumfries, RAC patrolman Alan restored the headlights and front indicators to working condition. www.rac.co.uk click here for RAC
The record rainfall and associated flood warnings (and a later oil leak) impinged on the trip meaning that a visit to Drumlanrig Castle and its noted Land Rover Tours had to be postponed until another trip.
