Dorset Land Rover Club Ltd will be hosting its 4th Annual Ladies' Day event on Sunday August 12. This year the club is raising funds for the Portsmouth Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The event will again be relying on club members and other supporters to bring their trucks for a group of discerning ladies to sample the capabilities of numerous off-road vehicles for the day.
The off-road site at Tincleton is hosting the popular event, comprising a two-tier challenge; initially the ladies will make their way over a large open, flat and dusty track to familiarise themselves with the idiosyncrasies of their chosen truck. Next, they will transfer to the assortment of grass hill climbs, sweeping dirt bends and numerous table tops where they will be tutored the art of controlled hill climbs and descents. After this will follow a few sample ‘trial sections’ on a non-competitive basis to try the events the club normally runs on a monthly basis. Previous events have included a ‘garage’ and roundabout section which has seen entrants practising their reversing skills and then returning to the start, ready to select their next truck to trial. The 2012 event will be run in a similar fashion however, DLRC are sourcing a number of other non-Land Rover vehicles to play with and interested to hear from anyone able to bring their truck, their time and enthusiasm to this super day.
