After investing £60,000 into the new quarry area at Peckforton Castle, the site was officially unveiled yesterday with an impressive demonstration from the entire Land Rover range. The new quarry area, although only a very small part of the 600 acre off-road site, is the centre-piece of the Land Rover Experience, recently acquired in July of last year, by the owner of Peckforton Castle, Chris Naylor.
Off-road track builders D3 were commissioned to build a future proof area to demonstrate the awesome off-road ability shared throughout the complete range. This can be seen from the unique viewing platform above the quarry which enables visitors to see exactly what goes on outside the vehicles as they're tackling obstacles, before entering the vehicles themselves to take on the extreme terrain, under the guidance of the site's qualified instructors.
At the centre of the quarry is a brand new obstacle, nicknamed 'The Peanut'. It's shape demands an angled approach and ensures that all four wheels get some serious air time, with the Evoque looking the most spectacular of all.
