The ‘Metallic Marmite’ creation is certainly going to cause quite a stir, both within Land Rover and among potential customers looking for something ‘different’.
Here in the LRO office, reaction was instant and frankly expressed, as you’d expect.
Setting aside the visual impact for a moment, I can’t help wondering just how well the roofless structure would now cope with even a mild spot of greenlaning let alone a trot through the wheel-waving elephant footsteps obstacle at the factory’s off-road course. I can’t help worrying that it would flex and distort out of shape and then stay that way. Would this customised vehicle still achieve the L405’s five star safety rating with Euro NCAP? I think it’s very unlikely.
Finally, as for the whole look with that massive ‘pram hood’, reminds me of the saying: ‘Just because you can, doesn’t always mean that you should.’ That’ll be a no, then.
