This one might be worth considering. It’s a late model, one of the very last, and it keeps that original look, even wearing some smart Avon Range Master tyres. Underneath there are a few improvements that some owners will prefer: a tough 2.25-litre petrol engine and gearbox from a Series IIA, and parabolic springs for a smoother ride.
Don’t expect it to be immaculate – the roof could do with some attention and the seats need re-upholstering – but it’s a going concern and road legal; that’s always a good place to start. And with a recent galvanised chassis and bulkhead, you can be relatively confident that costs won’t spiral.
