The Silk Trail 2013 expedition team members have covered ground very few westerners have seen as they crossed north-west China in the high Tibetan mountains.
The whole team experienced the thin air at 13,000 to 17,500 feet above sea-level, with short bursts of supplementary oxygen required occasionally. The Hybrids, however, continued to perform well, with the torque-strong alliance of electric and diesel engines proving only slightly less responsive than usual to throttle commands.
With their last night in China being spent less than a mile from the Friendship Bridge connecting China and Nepal, the expedition has now covered more than 8800 miles and has 2000 miles to go through Nepal and India to Mumbai.
