Here’s a smart and increasingly desirable example of the Series III. It’s an early model, from the vehicle’s first year of production, and comes with some lovely period touches in the form of a capstan winch, freewheeling hubs and a Fairey overdrive.
The link mats in the footwells are true to the original design. You don’t see many like these around any more, but there are people who make them. The 2.5-litre petrol isn’t original, but at least it makes an interesting talking point.
Despite 20 years having passed since its restoration by a ‘veteran Land Rover restorer’, it still looks resplendent in its Mid-Grey paint job – a lovely colour and a lot less common in the UK than the ubiquitous Bronze Green and Marine Blue.
