The video documents from start to finish the Sport's challenge of setting the fastest recorded time for the crossing, by a standard production vehicle, which was achieved last month.
The team drove from Wadi Adda Wasir in Saudi Arabia to the border of the United Arab Emirates, averaging 51.87mph (81.87 km/h) and completing their journey in 10 hours and 22 minutes.
Boasting spectacular footage of the barren environment from inside and outside the vehicle, the film shows viewers just some of the challenges that pushed driver Moi Torrallardona and the supercharged Sport to the limit. See them at full speed on desert flats, tackling steep sand dunes, sand storms and punishing jumps.
Torrallardona, the 47 year-old Spanish off-road racer who was behind the wheel, said: ‘The Empty Quarter was an incredible challenge and one that will live with me for the rest of my life. The Range Rover Sport was the ideal tool for conquering the desert and it is great to be able to relive the challenge through this short documentary. The Empty Quarter provided a unique test for a standard production vehicle and thanks to the ability of the Range Rover Sport we came out victorious.’
