The £500m plant near Wolverhampton received the award from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) at an event hosted by Geroge Clark, of Channel 4 Amazing Spaces fame. It will now take part in the national RICS awards later this year.
The judges said: ‘JLR’s new facility is contributing to the area’s wider regeneration through the engagement with the local community during the planning process, engagement with local schools and significantly impacting the area’s growth prospects through the creation of approximately 1400 jobs.’
The factory will start producing JLR’s all-new Ingenium family of engines in 2015. They’ll appear first of all in the new Jaguar XF, but we’ve been told to expect them to power the next Discovery models soon after.
