Calling themselves the ‘Africa As One’ expedition, the team of seven embarked last week from Cape Town on their trans-continental expedition, and aims to arrive in London in time for the Rugby World Cup in September 2015. Their goal is to introduce the game of rugby to 45 African countries by passing a single rugby ball from person to person.
Sponsored by DHL (the official logistics partner of the Rugby World Cup 2015) the team is driving three Discovery 4s that have equipped by Frontrunner for an arduous year of rough African terrain. Their equipment ranges from roof racks and drawer systems to electrical systems and basic camping equipment.
‘This tour is not just about rugby,’ said Charles Brewer, Managing Director for DHL Express Sub Saharan Africa. ‘It is about showcasing Africa to the rest of the world in all her beauty. We aim to capture Africa in her everyday routine, highs and lows and share this beautiful continent with the rest of the world.’
