It's well-known that Land Rover will axe the Defender at the end of 2015, as the model is unable to meet forthcoming safety and emissions legislations. And as a result, they're being stockpiled.
Laura Mills, sales executive for Marshall Group, a main dealer in Cambridgeshire, said: 'The Armed Forces, in particular, have ordered enough Defenders to keep them going until 2020. Orders are still coming in thick and fast for them and I suspect we'll be taking orders right up until it goes out of production.'
While Land Rover was unable to comment on individual customer orders, we understand that HM Armed Forces has ordered 8000 Land Rover Defenders in readiness.
