Desert, snow, mountains, beaches and off-road sites all feature in the four-minute video, that manages to cram footage from 70 different Discovery owners (plus two dogs!). The clips were filmed in 36 different countries, and have been compiled from over 1000 original submissions totaling more than 100 hours of footage.
The film marks the quarter centenary of the Discovery model range, which dates back to the 200Tdi Discovery 1 that was launched in 1989. In addition to early Discovery 1s, you’ll see Discovery 2s, 3s and 4s delivering aid, tackling extreme environments and just generally being epic.
The video ends the words 'It's been quite a journey. We couldn't have made it without you,' a tribute which could apply equally to Land Rover's customers, and to the model which turned around the company's fortunes in the 1990s.
Land Rover’s Marketing Communications Director, Dominic Chambers, explained the thinking behind the video: ‘When we started to look into it, we realised that the people who make Discovery what it is – our owners – had already made it. The story of Discovery was simply hidden in the thousands of clips shot about owner adventures all over the world.’
