It’s taken you how long?!
When you consider that it’s recently taken about 20 man-hours just to line up all the body panels on my Series IIA, it’s almost incredible how quickly modern vehicles are put together. Jaguar Land Rover’s factories are churning out Land Rovers quick enough to supply a British customer ever three minutes (if you trust my dodgy maths…). And that’s just the UK market: the total number for all markets is something like five times that.
The mind boggles. Mine does anyway. You’ll find more big numbers to get your head around here.
525bhp Spits and Giggles
Gigglepin probably pops up a lot in your social media feeds these days. That’s for a few reasons. Firstly, LRO featured their epic 525bhp challenge truck in the Spring 2015 issue (memories of going airborne, again, and again, and again, with that animal Chevvy V8 screaming in my ears, will stay with me a long time… Check out the feature for the full spec low-down). And secondly, they’re collecting a lot of silverware, and putting on quite a fiery, noisy and hilariously rampant show in the process. Click here for Alan Munroe’s great account of their last victory in the French Xtrem 2015.
Other LRO stuff from the last seven days…
Here’s an original Series II for sale on LRO.com with lots of period goodies. I poured myself a cuppa and spent a geeky few minutes identifying all the optional equipment and original parts. What did I miss? Click here to take a look…
JLR is backing a scholarship to encourage more women to take up careers in science and engineering. It’s called the WISE scholarship (Women In Science and Engineering), and they’ve has stuck the words ‘Range Rover Evoque’ in front of it, so it must be good… If you’re of the feminine persuasion and think you might fit the bill, click here. Good luck if you’re applying!
