Jaguar Land Rover’s new, annual Supplier Excellence Awards aims to recognize the value to the company of its network of suppliers. At the same time, its list of ten winning suppliers serves to illustrate the pan-European nature of the specialist businesses that provide Land Rover components.
Wiring looms for Defenders and Discoverys, for example, come from Egypt (Leoni Wiring Systems); dampers come from Sweden (Trelleborg Forsheda AB); and airbags and seatbelts are made in Spain (Autoliv BKI).
Fortunately for the UK, there are British specialists in the mix: HEVAC systems for the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport are made in Telford (by Denso Manufacturing) while Corby produces certain steel sub-frames, control arms and chassis components (Benteler Automotive UK Ltd).
