Designed and built by Gigglepin 4x4 and raced by Jim Marsden, GN11 HXC is one of the most feared off-road racers in Europe, with a string of recent trophies to prove it.
Previous incarnations of this vehicle have been dominating major events for the last few years, but this version of the truck was new for 2015.
Jim took LRO for a white-knuckle blast earlier in the year (see our Spring 2015 issue). We were bowled away by the V8’s brutal power, and the awesome ability of that massive suspension to soak up huge impacts over and over again.
'It’s always sad when you come to sell a vehicle you have put so much love and care into,' says Jim, 'and there are times when you wonder if you are making the right decision. Our current vehicle has been a powerhouse dominating events across Europe for four years and causing a major stir in the USA in 2013. But we have pride ourselves on innovation and moving forward and that’s what we need to do.
'Racing in Europe is evolving and we are changing our focus ever so slightly, and that means a different approach! But don’t panic, our next build will still pay heed to our Land Rover roots, just in an even faster, lighter way… The future is very exciting and we can’t wait to share it with you.'
Ok, so this isn't really a Land Rover… but who cares? It’s inspired by, and evolved from, the Defender, so that’s good enough for us.
So just how ‘evolved’ are we talking?
